|Welcome to the Minnesota Coalition for Death Education and Support (MCDES). Founded in 1977, our purpose is to promote and provide education, opportunities for networking, and support to professionals and volunteers involved in the care of persons confronting death and bereavement.
We offer state-wide services dealing with death education and support issues to a diverse membership, including physicians, nurses, clergy, grief counselors, psychologists, therapists, social workers, hospice staff and volunteers, educators, nursing home and emergency service personnel, students, funeral directors and staff, survivors and advocates.
On the accompanying pages, you can find information about membership, conferences, our newsletter, and our many activities.
Due to the quick response of conference attendees, the May 1 MCDES conference, The Science of Hope: Sustaining a Healthy Mind, Mood and Heart in Times of Loss with Henry Emmons, MD, is now FULL. There will be no more registrations taken for this conference, and there will of course be no "on-site" registration. If you are already registered, thank you. The handouts for the conference will arrive via e-mail three days before the conference. Again, if you are registered we will see you at the Boulevard Hotel on May 1.
For those who wanted to register but are not able to attend because the conference is full, Dr. Emmons website is: http://www.partnersinresilience.com/who-we-are/henry-emmons/ which we hope will allow you to attend other programs he may be offering that are of interest to you.
We also want to let you know that registration for our Fall MCDES Conference, October 2, 2015 with Dr. Renee Katz will begin on August 1. We know our Fall Conference will also be a "sell out" so do register as soon as possible. Thanks for your continued support of MCDES.
